'5 P.M. SUNBEAM guests 2 greats Keyboardists /sound designers/artists : MICHAEL GEYRE & OLIVIER GRALL, for a tribute and the project of playing as possible the same keyboards that the great Herbie Hancock used in 1978 on the album 'Sunlight' (the legendary album backcover picture). Olivier opened his temple of electric keyboards (Synthégrall) to us in order to share is great synthesizers, and record the title.'

RAFFLE

JOACHIM GARRAUD
The 10th edition of SynthFest France strikes hard, with Joachim Garraud in concert, Saturday, April 22, 2023 from 9 pm. The French producer and artist will be back in Nantes, his hometown, for this exceptional evening. Joachim Garraud will present a preview of the film "Modular California Vibes", a documentary on electronic music creation on board his solar mobile studio where 4 producers will record 4 original tracks in 4 unusual places during 4 days, thanks to the sun. A debate will follow the unique screening of this film in France, to then give way to a concert. Joachim Garraud at SynthFest France, the musical event in Nantes not to be missed.

Thought this one was pretty cool. Incorporating the bleeps and bloops of an old school handheld video game into music.

"I've tried to recreate 'memorie of green' in Blade Runner
that "blip blip" sound in the back was made using that game (Ufo master blaster, 1978)
Raphael Preston had to play it (it was given to him by Vangelis)
I thought it'd be funny to show that the sound was not made using a System100 or other vintage synth .."

CS80 + DiffYUseurs

Here is a short demo of the marvelous DiffYUseurs (made by Yusynth, widely known for being talented and kind enough to have designed some wonderful modular synths, and having shared schematics with everybody, without hesitating to help anyone encountering difficulties in building them, visit his website http://yusynth.net/)
DiffYUseurs is a DSP based multi FX that emulates various speakers that were initially made to be used with Ondes Martenot (Palmes, Metal, Cloches ...)
Result is absolutely stunning, Yves has added 2 differents Palmes and Metal speakers, as well as a great sounding Ring Modulator and a Solina ensemble FX
There are also some very useful FX (such as Reverb, Pitch Shift, Chorus, Tremolo and Flanger)
I've played my CS80 through the DiffYUseurs, but i'm making some very basic patches with it
first, i am playing a sine wave (with no release), then some very short white noise (on this patch, to vary notes, i move the Hpf cutoff slider, with high resonance)
sound can saturate a bit sometimes, sorry about that, but dynamic of the effect is so huge ...
Then, some kind of strings patch (2 detuned Saw, with minor filtering), interestingly enough, Flanger effect in the DiffYUseurs reminds me Cs80's built in chorus quite a lot
i'll make again some videos demonstrating the Diffyuseurs soon

Yamaha CS80 Sustain & Portamento test

"after some requests regarding the Deckard clone, i've made that short video where i'm testing reactions of Global Sustain 1/2 compared to user presets release
pretty interesting, as it shows:
- when adding global sustain, it adds on both vcf/vca
- sustain 1/2 switch is functionning when you add release on your user preset
- release is a bit longer when using the one on user presets (than global release)
i've been using that instrument for 20 years, i'm still amazed by its sound and expressiveness
Ribbon is active on all notes in sustain 2 mode, only on played (not released) notes in sustain mode 1"
